John Pennie – IFT Fellow
John Pennie is a retired solicitor with over 35 years’ turnaround experience, having always adhered to the view that the authors of the Insolvency Act saw its use as a last resort and not something all businesses should aim to test! He is also a Senior Vice president of Marsh the global insurance brokers . He became a Fellow of the IFT in 2023
His advice to boards , trustees , Chief execs and Turnaround professionals is grounded in a thorough understanding of case law in this everchanging area and the Insolvency Act and Rules , and his advice will often be focused on helping directors, their suppliers and lenders use the law to justify survival, and work towards rescue, rather than premature closure.
His comfort zone extends beyond that normally considered as mainstream turnaround and corporate recovery, with recognised expertise in adverse costs cover for heavy litigation, intellectual property, and mediation of disputes. He speaks reasonable French. In his spare time, he breeds rare beef cattle.
