Donald Muir – IFT Accredited Member 

Donald Muir has designed and delivered turnarounds generating over £2bn cash improvements, as Chairman NED,CEO, CRO or CFO, in both retrenchment and growth scenarios.

Since 2004 he has operated independently where he has advised organisations and implemented programmes resulting in savings for the businesses in excess of £1billion. This has been in both the public and private sectors including NHS, Police, Northern Rock and Murray Group.

His international experience covers twenty five years in manufacturing and services, having managed businesses in the US, UK, France, Netherlands, Canada and emerging markets. 

On qualifying as a chartered accountant Donald spent twelve years in North America in various Finance Director and General Management roles, ultimately CFO at Alcatel Alsthom Canada. He returned to the UK as Finance Director of a global sub-sea cable manufacturer acquired by Alcatel. 

Key achievements include CFO of Global Crossing Europe during successful construction of 28000km/$5bn pan European telecom network; CFO of Cable and Wireless where he reduced cash utilisation by £500m per annum.
