Believed to be the eldest inductee/accredited IfT member and still in practice - attempting to turnaround and transform businesses and striving to safeguard livelihoods - going back over 60 years (rising from pushing a broom to control room) and self-employed for over 40 years, Barry has “at work experience” in ....
• Manufacturing (food, furniture, clothing)
• Retail (department/multiple/specialty stores and logistics)
• Regulated financial services (agency brokerage, product design and distribution)
• Forensic discovery (identifying and unravelling fraud, malfeasance and financial crime) Court advocacy as a “McKenzie Friend”.
• Social economy (youth and community services, former offenders and non-external profits)
Every senior management position appointed to has been to fight and douse fires in organizations, then fire them up, instigate and manage change.
As an employee, he worked for the United Drapery Stores Department Stores Division, Alexandre the Tailor, the Cavenham and Burton Groups and when self-employed – American General Assurance (tied agent), Suremost Ltd (a brokerage) and the Credit Union Consultancy (an umbrella organisation).
Engaged to undertake rescue and turnaround projects for themselves or their clients, he has worked with local authorities, training and enterprise councils, trade unions, banks, solicitors, accountants, insolvency practitioners, limited companies, musicians, entertainers (with companies), impresarios and non-external profit regulated “firms”. To safeguard the status and trading conditions of regulated “firms” and to comply with privacy laws and GDPR, clients with well-known names can’t be mentioned.
All this keeps him off the streets!
An initial telephone call to discuss a client situation could be mutually worthwhile, any time from 09:00 to 21:00 daily (he doesn’t do the night shift!) by either phone or Zoom. All conversations are in utmost confidence, without any prior obligation and non-disclosure (other than determined by the law of the land for regulated “firms”) and, for legal reasons, only suggestions not advice can be given then.
